Character design for the Princess of Snow for SNOWFALL, a retelling of Snow White inspired by Feudal Japan and rich with sorcery, shapeshifting, and the celebration of true beauty in its many forms - and disguises.
Physically vulnerable but politically symbolic, the Princess of Snow is the last surviving member of the Snowbloods, the reigning feudal family, and, as such, a potential rival to the foreign-born Queen. Eager to discourage her political enemies from using the young Princess as a rallying figure, the Queen turns her into a novelty of the court with an elaborate, doll-like wardrobe and limited exposure to the outside world. Drawing from this, she was designed with delicate China glass, flowers, and the beautiful fragility of frost in mind.
